  • Going for many super short walks during the day. Office workers are supposed take a 5 minute stretch every hour to stretch, so use that. This helps me declutter the brain.

Starting a task is hard, but so is stopping! Attacking “hard” tasks with momentum instead of willpower: I don’t want to organize the freezer. I can tidy the floor in the storage room. Then empty the laundry basket. Now I have momentum and can attempt a breaching maneuver on the freezer: throw away some old food from the freezer. Usually this snowballs into sorting the freezer. If it doesn’t, then hey at least I threw out some old food.

Not understanding the questions is very much an indicator.

If it is an option, ask to take these tests together with a professional during assessment. They can both clarify the questions and will also make note of your approach to the test which is strong data.

The “Proportional-Integral-Derivative Controller”, known as PID controller, is used to balance a million things like drone motors, air contitioners, assembly line robotic arms, and chainsaws.

It can be made to work electronically, pneumatically, or mechanically.

It - and partial versions of it (like a PD Controller) - was independently invented multiple times throughout history:

    • windmills in 17th century france to regulate pressure based on wind speed
    • factory steam engines to regulate fuel consumption based on load (Centrifugal Governor - invented twice)
    • the 19th century Whitehead Torpedo to reach and maintain depth
    • tons more, I forget

  • I always imagined travelling back in time 100 years and trying to explain our tech.

-“We have personal communicators available at all times, that we can use to instantly communicate with anyone on Earth.”

-“Wow! But I guess language barriers make it impossible?”

-'No, actually. A surprising amount of people in the world understand English. Also, we have instant translators in our communicators. I could contact someone in China right now and have a conversation about anything."

-“Incredible!! What sort of topics do you talk to them about?”

-“…I don’t. It’s kinda impolite to just start talking to strangers. I mostly talk to old friends from school. And my family.”
